Board
The Life Choices Board of Directors is very much a working board. In addition to governing the organization, the Board is responsible for setting policy, evaluating programs and activities, and securing funds necessary to operate the ministry. The Board meets monthly except in December, and meetings typically last about an hour to an hour and a half. Each board member serves on two board committees, generally one that is more active and one that does not require as much time. With the combination of meetings, preparation for meetings, committee work, and other support, board members generally devote an average of about 3-6 hours per month.

1) How I found out about Life Choices...
I became aware of Life Choices several years ago through friends that either served on the board or volunteered their time at Life Choices.
2) I am interested in serving because...as a Christian, we should serve those around us. I believe in Life Choices because not only are unborn babies being saved, but women are being ministered to as they carry their children, and also if they are suffering from the aftermath of abortion.
3) A few facts about myself...I am an investment advisor with First South Bank. I am married with two sons. I attend First Christian Church. I enjoy musuic, gardening, and reading.

Laura Busch, 2008 Board Chair

It was quite surprising to find myself Chairman of the Board of Life Choices. I first served as a client advocate one afternoon a week. I have always had a compassionate heart for young women who find themselves in a crisis pregnancy situation because 30 years ago I was in that situation. Growing up in a small town in Missouri, I had no one to confide in. It was a frightening time, and I went most of my pregnancy without seeking medical care. When I couldn't hide the inevitable any longer, Kent and I confided in our parents and with their love and support, we made it throught. I know I was very blessed, but I could have benefited even more from an organization such as Life Choices.

I am so thankful Dyersburg has a crisis pregnancy center and as a board member, I see how important this organization is to our community. I am asked many times to pray for an abortion-minded client, or a baby that has been born and has medical problems. We are fortunate to have such a caring well-trained staff of employees, volunteers, and board members who dedicate so much time and energy to this needed ministry.

I am married to Kent, and we have two grown children, Brian and Melissa, and a new grandson, Lucas. We moved to Dyersburg in 1991 when Kent took a job as an emergency room physician. After working in the ER several years, he opened his own practice, Dyersburg Skin Clinic. I work from home and manage the finances. I am a member of First United Methodist Church and volunteer as a children's teacher for Community Bible Study. I also serve on the boards of Northwest Safeline and Caterbury Place.

Angela Laird

My name is Angela Laird. I found out about Life Choices in 2009 volunteering for United Way. We toured the facility and learned all about what Life Choices has to offer to those facing pregnancy related dilemmas. I immediately became interested in doing something to help. Later in the year I got to know Reni and she invited me to serve on the Board. I was very excited to say “yes”! I have been married for 8 years to Travis Laird. We have two beautiful children, Stephen 11 years old & Hunter 7 years old. We are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Dyersburg. I enjoy doing photography and running in my spare time.
