Medical Services

In 2008, Life Choices converted to a medical clinic that offers pregnancy testing and ultrasound at no cost to our clients.

A positive pregnancy test is the first step in determining whether a woman is pregnant.

An ultrasound can then open a window to the womb, allowing a pregnant woman to see if the pregnancy is viable as well as how far along she is.

If you just need to talk to someone about what to do about a possible pregnancy or STI, call 731.286.4673 to schedule an appointment. Our team of staff and volunteers are here to help.

Education and Support

Life Choices offers a variety of on-going programs and services.

Whether you're looking for information about abortion, adoption, or sexually transmitted infections (STIs), Life Choices offers an abundance of materials.

Visitors are welcome to come by our office at The Village to check out our available pamphlets and brochures, all of which have been approved by our medical director.

We also have copies of the Crossroads of the Heart DVD available.

B.R.I.D.G.E.

For a woman who chooses to parent her child, we offer related referrals and services.

The BRIDGE program empowers clients with knowledge and skills to plan for their future and the future of their children.

Initiation into the BRIDGE program begins with three one-on-one sessions about sexually transmitted infections, adoption, and future goals and plans.

After completing the three initial BRIDGE classes, the clients will earn $150 Mommy dollars they can use in the Mommy Store.

They may continue to earn Mommy Money and additional items like diapers, baby wash and shampoo, and baby wipes by participating in the following group classes:

·         Nutrition taught by Client Advocate and Registered Dietician Gayle Martin

·         Spring Garden and In the Womb prenatal development classes taught by Gayle Martin

·         Love, Sex, and Lasting Relationships ten week class, taught by Client Services Manager Kristen Dycus (Clients earn double money for taking this class!)

·         Preparation for Parenting: Bringing God’s Order to Your Baby’s Day and Restful Sleep to Your Baby’s Night taught by Helen Kerber

Some of these classes are open to the public. Additional classes being coordinated. Call Kristen at 286-4673 for more information.

Mommy Store

In a joint effort to provide assistance to women who choose to carry their pregnancies to term, the Dyersburg Union Mission provides a Mommy Store located at 213 West Cedar just for Life Choices BRIDGE participants where they can spend Mommy Money to buy items like maternity and baby clothes, blankets, toys, and other items.

The Mommy Store is open M, W, F from 9:00 - 11:00 and 1:00 - 4:00 and is closed on holidays and for special events at the Union Mission.

Adoption Referrals
For a woman who chooses to place her child for adoption, we offer support throughout her pregnancy, particularly as she faces a wide array of considerations and emotions as she works toward that final decision of whether or not to place her child for adoption.

Life Choices refers clients interested in considering adoption to three regional adoption agencies:

Agape Child & Family Services, Bethany Christian Services of West Tennessee, and Life Choices of Memphis.

STIs and Abstinence

Knowing that any woman who comes to Life Choices for a pregnancy test is also at risk for an STI (sexually transmitted infection), we review symptoms, risks, and treatment, and encourage each one to visit our local health department or another health care provider for STI screening. Additionally, we encourage clients to consider abstinence outside of marriage, and we offer a nine week study called Love, Sex, and Lasting Relationships, by Chip Ingram.

Purity 4 a Purpose
This fun and interactive educational program empowers young people to choose purity in a promiscuous world by teaching them about the consequences of sex outside of marriage. Our Client Services Manager and Nurse Manager custom design the content to fit your audience, whether in the classroom or a youth group.

Testimonials:
The presentations were great.  Our students listened and put some thought into what was explained to them about keeping themselves sexually pure. Some commented about wanting to make good choices.  The examples used were concrete and right to the point, but they were not offensive to anyone. I only heard positive remarks afterwards. Thank you so very much for coming to our school.”
Mrs. Labrenda Coleman, Dyersburg Middle School Middle Scho

Infant Loss
We offer two programs that help women work through grief related to infant loss.

WOMB—Women Overcoming Maternal Brokenness, a nine-week Bible study and support group, sensitively ministers to the needs of women who have experienced a pregnancy loss through miscarriage, stillbirth or any form of early infant death.

MERCY—Mothers Experiencing Regret for Children of Yesterday, a Bible study support program, that helps women with an abortion in their past to find peace and healing.  MERCY gives women courage to deal with the past, pinpoints debilitating emotions, and helps women to find deliverance through God's healing and abundant grace.
