Recognizing the Sanctity of Human Life
On January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day, marking the 11th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion across all 50 states.
In January 2026, we will commemorate 42 years of observing the sanctity of human life. Yet, the need to pray for a culture that values and protects life remains as urgent as ever. Abortion—particularly chemical abortion—continues to rise, even in our own state where abortion is now illegal since the Dobbs decision in 2022.
Each January, churches across the country unite in recognizing the sanctity of human life and lifting up prayers for our nation and the pro-life movement.
Life Choices is a local, community-funded organization offering compassionate support, resources, and care to individuals and families in our area—anyone who walks through our doors.
